But there's a feeling that more could have been made of all of this, that something's missing in the execution. What might be missing is an overriding mood of total free-wheeling insanity. "Satanic Panic" is best when it lets its hair down, when it devotes itself wholeheartedly to the ridiculous, the entertaining, the silly and gross combined. But it doesn't push any envelopes, and pushing envelopes is what it's all about! The real envelope-pusher here is Romijn. Her performance, simultaneously loopy and stone-cold serious, shows what's missing in "Satanic Panic" as a whole.

Grade: C - Satanic Panic ekes lukewarm thrills out of an infernally clever premise

Thereís a seed of a great idea in Satanic Panic. Capitalizing on the semi-ironic alt-fashion obsessions with both pizza and Satanic imagery, the film revolves around a pizza delivery driver named Samantha ďSamĒ Craft (Hayley Griffith) who stumbles into a Satanic ritual while out on her Vespa on her first day on the job. Itís campy, itís gory, itís a little bit titillating, and it features one of those novelty performances from famous actors that tend to bring a lot of press to otherwise under-the-radar productions. Itís Pizza Pentagram T-shirt: The Movie, and there is undoubtedly a built-in audience for that type of thing in todayís horror landscape. But did it have to be made of such shoddy materials?
